A Rs 8,000 crore plan for the construction of the ‘New City’ on 821.964 acres on the outskirts of the capital city was created by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) recently.
BDA Constructing New City
It appears that the BDA has already started the land acquisition process for this project, said Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the Housing and Urban Development Minister.
If you are wondering about the location of this New City, it has been planned in Malipada, Daspur and Gothapatana areas on Bhubaneswar city outskirts with a residential facility of around 2 lakh people.
On top of that this is going to be a solar city.
Center Providing Financial Aid For The Project
Further, the BDA vice-chairman Dr N Thirumala Naik said, “As per estimation, the proposed project will require an investment of Rs 8,169 crore of which Rs 6,069 crore has been pegged for built-up space and another Rs 2,100 crore for infrastructure. The Centre will provide financial aid for the project.”
A team from the Centre has already conducted a survey of the project recently, Thirumala Naik added.
Moving ahead, they are planning to construct a four-lane road which will be constructed from Naka Gate Square to Kateni for enhanced communication to and from the New City.
This will also be helpful in connecting roads to further manage the traffic congestion.
Moreover, this newly developed city will be connected with Mo Bus service with plying of only e-buses along with Bhubaneswar Metro Train connectivity.
