Rs 500 Crore Case Against Shark Tank India For Supporting Copied Startup Idea, Mental Agony

Legal Notice to Tramboo Sports & Shark Tank India

In addition to shark tank, the co-founders of Tramboo Sports, Saad Tramboo and Hamad Tramboo have also received the notice.

As per a report, Alfa Sports & Co is demanding Rs 500 crore in compensation for the damages and business losses as well as mental agony inflicted due to the distortion of facts by Tramboo Sports during its appearance on Shark Tank India.

The Tramboo duo made their pitch on the show which aired on January 30, 2024, during the season 3 of shark tank India.

In disagreement with Tramboo Sports’ claim of exclusive manufacturing capabilities, Alfa Sports mentioned their expertise in the ‘lite willow making’ in India’s bat manufacturing industry.

As per Cricket Bat Manufacturers Association of Kashmir (CBMAK) member, Fawazul Kabir, the cricket willows that Tramboo Sports presented in Shark Tank India actually belonged to the Alfa Sports.

Misrepresentation of Vendor & Breach of Contracts

In the light of misrepresentation of their vendor relationship and breach of contracts, Alfa Sports has demanded a public apology from Sony TV and Tramboo Sports.

Citing the presence of 400 manufacturing units in Kashmir and government-supported initiatives for willow technology, CBMAK’s Kabir questions the assertions made by Tramboo Sports in Shark Tank India.

Addressing this issue, Tramboo Sports clarified that they did not assert exclusive manufacturing rights, however they rather operate through contract manufacturing as a direct-to-consumer brand.

Notably, Tramboo sports received notable recognition on Shark Tank India, as all judges expressed interest in investing in the company. With a 4 per cent equity stake in the company, the co-founder and CEO of Lenskart, along with Aman Gupta, the cofounder and CMO of boAt, collectively pledged to invest INR 30 Lakh in the company.

We will have to wait to see how this legal episode turns out to be.
