Delhi Police is stepping up its efforts to crack down on traffic rule violations by involving the public in a significant way. Starting September 1, citizens will have the opportunity to contribute to safer roads and earn substantial rewards in the process. The initiative is part of a broader action plan to improve traffic management and reduce violations across the city.

Report Traffic Violations, Earn Upto Rs 50,000 In Delhi

Traffic Prahari App Relaunch

On September 1, the Delhi Police will relaunch the ‘Traffic Sentinel’ mobile app under a new name—‘Traffic Prahari.’ This app is designed to empower Delhi residents to report traffic violations in real-time. The initiative aims to enhance public participation in maintaining law and order on the roads, with a lucrative incentive for those who actively contribute.

How the Traffic Prahari Scheme Works

Under the Traffic Prahari scheme, the general public can report traffic violations by uploading photos, videos, and relevant details through the app. Users need to register their mobile numbers and provide specifics such as the type of violation, the time, location, and the vehicle’s registration number. The Delhi Police will then verify the reports, and the top four contributors each month will be rewarded with cash prizes.

Monthly Rewards for Top Informers

To encourage widespread participation, the Delhi Police has announced a monthly reward system. The top four ‘informers’ will receive cash prizes: Rs 50,000 for first place, Rs 25,000 for second, Rs 15,000 for third, and Rs 10,000 for fourth. This approach not only incentivizes public involvement but also fosters a community-driven effort to reduce traffic violations.

Impact of Increased Traffic Violations

The urgency of this initiative is underscored by recent data showing a significant rise in traffic violations in Delhi. Reports indicate a 32% increase in stop-line violations and a 45% rise in permit violations compared to the previous year. By leveraging the Traffic Prahari app, Delhi Police aims to curb these trends and promote safer driving habits across the city.

Conclusion: A Win-Win for Road Safety

The Traffic Prahari app represents a novel approach to traffic enforcement by integrating public participation with technology. By offering substantial rewards, the Delhi Police is not only ensuring stricter adherence to traffic laws but also creating an opportunity for citizens to contribute to public safety while earning extra income. As this scheme rolls out, it has the potential to transform Delhi’s traffic management landscape for the better.
