On Thursday, the retail arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) announced the launch of youth-focused fashion retail format ‘Yousta’, during the opening of its first outlet in Hyderabad.
Reliance Retail Launching ‘Yousta’ Fashion Stores
Interestingly, all the products at Yousta store are priced below Rs 999.
In addition to that, the majority of them are priced below Rs 499, according to Reliance Retail.
Earlier, during January, media had reported Reliance Retail is planning to launch a value apparel format to compete directly with Tata’s Zudio, Landmark group owned Max and Shoppers Stop’s new mass priced brand InTune.
The President and CEO – Fashion and Lifestyle, Reliance Retail, Akhilesh Prasad said, “Yousta is a young and dynamic brand that underlines a way of life, which will grow and evolve with the youth of this country. The team will continuously work with India’s younger generation to understand their evolving fashion needs.”
The first Yousta store which opened on August 24 in Hyderabad is located in the city’s Sarath City Mall.
Youth Centered Offerings
The offerings from this store will consist of “housing unisex merchandise, character merchandise, a weekly refresh capsule”.
Additionally, its offering will include “drop brand new looks in its ‘Starring Now’ collection every week, where the latest fashion is offered as a complete outfit with matching accessories”, the release noted.
Besides this, the stores will have “several tech touch points”, including QR-enabled screens for information sharing, self-checkout counters, complimentary Wi-Fi and charging stations, the release said.
It is noteworthy here that the range of products offered at Yousta stores can also be accessed online through Ajio and JioMart platforms, the company mentioned.
India’s consumption structure has been skewed in the past over a narrow base of richer consumers accounting for a large chunk of the overall market, the market expert said.
Although, as the economy is broadening across many more cities and the impact is reaching further down the income ladder, the opportunity for value-formats and value-brands is expanding.
For doing its share of community support, Yousta has partnered with a non-profit for customers to donate old clothes at stores and allow them to be used for community programs.
