Xiaomi has introduced the A2 series in India, comprising two smartphones as part of its entry-level lineup.

The Redmi A2, touted as the company’s most affordable smartphone in India, is accompanied by the A2+.

Both devices were launched in Europe earlier this year and have now made their way to the Indian market with identical hardware.

The A2 series is geared towards offering specifications suitable for budget-conscious consumers. The A2+ differentiates itself from the standard model by incorporating a fingerprint scanner on the rear. Let’s delve into the pricing, features, and specifications of the Redmi A2 and A2+.

Configurations And Prices

The Redmi A2 is available in multiple configurations, offering different combinations of RAM and internal storage. The base model provides 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, priced at ₹5,999. Another variant with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage is available for ₹6,499. For those seeking higher RAM capacity, a 4GB RAM option with 64GB of storage is priced at ₹7,499.

On the other hand, the A2+ has been introduced with a single storage option, featuring 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The A2+ is priced at ₹8,499. Both devices come with a two-year warranty. Starting from May 23, the A2 and A2+ will be available for purchase on Amazon, Mi, and physical Mi stores.

Display

The A2 and A2+ boast a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 1600×720 pixels. The front camera is housed in a small waterdrop notch at the top of the device. The screen features thin bezels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

The back panels of the phones are finished in imitation leather, available in colors such as Sea Green, Aqua Blue, and Classic Black. The smartphones are also said to offer a splash- and scratch-resistant body. Both devices support dual SIM cards and have a dedicated slot for a microSD card. 

Battery, Camera, and Other Features

Powering the A2 series is a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, accompanied by 64GB of internal storage and up to 4GB of RAM.

The rear of the phones features a dual-camera setup, consisting of a QVGA lens and an 8MP primary camera. For selfies, there is a 5MP front camera included in the A2 series. Xiaomi has equipped the A2 series with a 5000mAh battery that supports 10W charging. At the bottom, you can find a micro-USB connector and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phones come with a stock Android 13 experience, compatibility with up to 3GB of virtual RAM, and even an FM radio app.
