This news is definitely a good one for the rail travellers since the Indian Railways is all set to launch the nation’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train which shall connect the nation’s capital, Delhi, with Srinagar. It shall be on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) that this semi high speed train shall run offering passengers an enhanced travel experience with modern amenities.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Launch, Features, and New Delhi-Srinagar Connectivity
The Vande Bharat sleeper train is manufactured by BEML and is built for long-distance as well as overnight journeys. It was in the month of September this year that the prototype of the train was unveiled by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
As per a PTI report, expected to be launched by PM Modi, this train shall start its operations soon after in January 2025.
Covering a distance of more than 800 km between New Delhi and Srinagar within a period of 13 hours, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train shall provide the first-ever direct rail connectivity between New Delhi and the Kashmir Valley, which currently lacks such a direct link.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Ticket Prices, Schedule, and Key Stops
As per the sources, the Delhi-Srinagar-New Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper train will feature a variety of coaches: 11 AC 3-tier coaches, 4 AC 2-tier coaches and 1 First AC coach.
The tickets for the 3A (AC 3-tier) shall be around Rs 2000, whereas Rs 2500 for 2A (AC 2-tier) and Rs 3000 for 1A (First AC).
The New Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Sleeper train will depart from New Delhi at 19:00 hrs and is expected to reach Srinagar at 08:00 hrs the next morning.
The few key stops the trains shall take en route include Ambala Cantt Junction, Ludhiana Junction, Kathua, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Sangaldan, Banihal.
