They were left surprised as it mentioned a mystery man — Mohini Mohan Dutta.
Interestingly, Mohini Mohan Dutta has been bequeathed as a third of former Tata Group chairman’s residual assets which is estimated at more than Rs 500 crore, as per the media report.
This unexpected inclusion, came as a surprise to the Tata family.
At the age of 86, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata passed away in a Mumbai hospital on October 10.
When it comes to Mr Dutta, he had been a long-standing associate and was known to Tata’s close circles, including some family members, said the sources.
Earlier, Mr Dutta has described himself as being close to Tata family members.

Mohini Mohan Dutta is an entrepreneur who works in the travel sector from Jamshedpur.
Reportedly, he and his family used to own the travel agency Stallion.
Afterward it was merged with Taj Services, part of the Taj Group of Hotels during 2013.
It appears that Dutta and his family held 80 percent stake in Stallion, while the rest was owned by Tata Industries, as per the media report.
Besides this, one of Dutta’s daughters worked at Taj Hotels till 2015, afterward she started working at Tata Trusts until 2024.
He was also invited to Tata’s birth anniversary celebrations in December 2024.
First time Dutta met with Ratan Tata in Jamshedpur and they have known each other for 60 years.
They first met at the Dealers’ Hostel in Jamshedpur when Ratan Tata was 24 years old.
While talking at Ratan Tata’s funeral in October, Dutta said that “He helped me out and really built me up.”
