Platform for ride-hailing Rapido is getting ready to introduce taxi pooling services for Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru in order to offer affordable, shared transportation choices.
By enabling numerous passengers to share a single vehicle, the program seeks to lower the cost of transportation from the airport to the city.
Rapido To Introduce Taxi Polling Services For Kempegowda International Airport
Rapido co-founder Aravind Sanka made the announcement at the Bengaluru Tech Summit’s EV & Future of Mobility session, “One vehicle can serve more than two customers. We have already launched auto pooling in Bengaluru and we’re soon launching an airport pooling service. The idea is to make rides from the airport to the city more affordable by allowing passengers to share rides, especially since they’re currently paying thousands of rupees for private trips.”
He also said, “The concept is simple: for transportation to be accessible to the masses, it must be affordable. The best way to achieve affordability without adding new infrastructure is by optimising and sharing the resources already in use.”
Compared to the high prices now charged for private rides, the pooling service is anticipated to drastically reduce transportation expenses.
Without requiring significant infrastructure investments, shared rides are viewed as a viable means of lowering the cost of transportation.
By allowing one vehicle to serve several people going in the same route, the pooling approach maximizes the use of already available resources.
Pricing Structure Details
He also talked about the pricing structure of the upcoming platform, “Our focus is on creating a balanced framework. Even with challenges like a lack of carpooling regulations in Karnataka, our approach ensures that consumers benefit while captains earn fairly. The goal is to make shared rides cost-effective, as passengers are headed in the same direction, which optimises resources.”
For comparison, lets take a look at Quick Ride, a carpooling app. While aggregator apps charge between Rs 900 and Rs 1,400 for airport travel, Quick Ride, a carpooling app, offers cheaper airport rides starting at Rs 350. The platform offers clear fares that don’t include surge pricing or other fees.
In Bengaluru, Rapido has already instituted autorickshaw pooling, focusing on regions where there is a significant need for comparable routes.
Users have responded well to the autorickshaw pooling service, and shared rides are becoming more and more common.
In keeping with Rapido’s emphasis on reasonably priced and effective transportation options, this pooling program aims to improve accessibility while cutting expenses.
