Rapido, a ride-hailing service, plans to launch a new fleet of “Pink Rapido” bikes in Karnataka by the end of this year, with women drivers providing safe rides for women. This initiative aims to offer 25,000 job opportunities for women, particularly in smaller cities and towns, ensuring a safe, empowering work environment.

Rapido’s ‘Pink Bikes’ Initiative: Empowering Women and Fostering Social Impact
The company’s co-founder, Pavan Guntupalli, emphasized that the project goes beyond job creation, focusing on safety and ease of travel for women. Guntupalli shared that around 35% of Rapido’s workforce comes from smaller cities, showing that even those without advanced education or skills find opportunities in nearby towns.
At the ‘Global Investment Summit,’ Guntupalli spoke about the importance of creating social impact through entrepreneurship. He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to be catalysts for change, stressing that collective efforts lead to a transformative shift. Radhika Gupta, MD of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, highlighted the significance of entrepreneurship in solving problems and improving lives, urging young people to seize opportunities as the state moves towards a $1 trillion economy. She also shared investment advice, recommending SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) as a long-term, “sweet” investment for the future.
Rapido’s Empowerment Initiative and Entrepreneurial Wisdom at Global Summit
On the topic of preparing for exams, Guntupalli advised planning, studying wisely, and resting well. He reminded students that life is filled with challenges, and another “exam” will always come. Madan Padaki, social entrepreneur and president of TiE Bengaluru, concluded the summit by highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit found across Karnataka, noting that Indian entrepreneurs focus on improving lives, not just seeking profit.
Through these efforts, Rapido aims to foster women’s empowerment while contributing to Karnataka’s broader economic growth and social development.
