Pune's Ring Road Project Will Be Completed Soon: Rs 17,000 Crore Approved For Acquiring Land Across Maharashtra

To assess progress and expedite land acquisition for important infrastructure projects, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presided over a high-level meeting with senior officials and MSRDC representatives.

Maharashtra Govt to Release ₹17,000 Crore for Land Acquisition Under Key MSRDC Projects

During the meeting, nine significant projects led by the MSRDC were reviewed, including multimodal corridors and expressways.

In order to guarantee prompt and effective infrastructure development, the state intends to complete land acquisition for these projects by the end of the year.

According to Anilkumar Gaikwad, Managing Director and Vice-Chairman of the MSRDC, land acquisition for the Jalna–Nanded expressway and the Pune Ring Road is almost finished.

Land measurement is presently underway for other projects, such as the Shaktipeeth expressway, the Virar–Alibaug multimodal expressway, three important Vidarbha roads, and the Vadhwan–Samruddhi and Navgaon–Morgaon connectors.

State Approves ₹36,000 Cr for Land Acquisition, ₹17,000 Cr More to Follow in Phases: Gaikwad

Gaikwad stated that a total of ₹36,000 crore has been approved by the state government for land acquisition, and an additional ₹17,000 crore will be released in phases as needed.

“The CM has made it clear that acquisition delays will escalate project costs and should be avoided,” Gaikwad said.

The Jalna–Nanded expressway will cost ₹2,140 crore, the Virar–Alibaug multimodal corridor will cost ₹22,000 crore, and the Pune Ring Road will cost ₹9,000 crore of the ₹36,000 crore allotted.

After land acquisition is complete, the Chief Minister underlined the necessity of finalizing implementation models, such as Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) or Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

Out of 300 villages, 86 have had their land measured for the Shaktipeeth expressway, and joint measurements should be finished by August.

Known as the “Golden Triangle,” the Shaktipeeth expressway will connect Goa, Mumbai, and Nagpur, three important religious and commercial centers.

“It will enhance north-to-east connectivity and function as a pilgrim circuit,” a senior MSRDC official stated.

Fadnavis mandated that the expressway plan for Shaktipeeth have as little of an impact as possible on forest land.

For the purchase of land, he directed the finance department to release ₹12,000 crore.

Additionally, he gave the forest department instructions to start the clearance process without postponing other administrative procedures, particularly for the ecologically delicate Morbe–Karanja section of the Virar–Alibaug corridor.

The Chief Minister demanded that the plan for the Vadhwan–Igatpuri expressway be completed.

The Bhandara–Gadchiroli, Nagpur–Chandrapur, and Nagpur–Gondiya expressway land acquisition plans in Vidarbha must be completed as soon as possible.

The Navegaon (Mor)–Surjagad mineral corridor and railway projects like Wardha–Nanded and Vadsa–Gadchiroli are among the other significant projects that were examined.

Land acquisition for planned airports in Kolhapur, Karad, Akola, Gadchiroli, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar was also discussed at the meeting.

“Agencies must work on mission mode. Land acquisition should begin immediately and officials must follow the defined timelines strictly.” said Fadnavis.
