Mercer’s worldwide quality of living ranking for 2023 is out and Vienna in Austria has topped the list, as per the media report.

Further, the listing indicates that Hyderabad with a rank of 153, Pune at 154 and Bengaluru in the 156th place are the three highest places which got ranking among the Indian cities.
The forth place is occupied by Chennai amongst the Indian cities in the list at the 161 spot.
Further, followed by Mumbai gaining 164 positions while Kolkata at 170, next comes New Delhi at 172 position.

Highest Standard Of Living
When it comes to Vienna, the city has retained its top position as per the list which was last published during pre-Covid 2019.
In this survey, the Vienna city is described as “known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural scene, Vienna offers its residents a high standard of living in various aspects.”
Next comes Zurich, Switzerland and Aukland, New Zealand at the second and third positions respectively.
Lower Quality Of Living
There are places which are listed for the lower quality of living.
This includes several cities from Africa including N’Djamena (Chad), Bangui (Central African Republic) and Khartoum (Sudan), ranked 236th, 239th and 241st, respectively.
Besides this some locations from the Middle East are also ranked low such as Sana’a (Yemen), at 238
Basically, ranking for this city implies the need for continued attention to humanitarian efforts along with reconstruction initiatives.
Baghdad from Iraq ranked at 240 place as it is seeking to rebuild its infrastructure.
Besides the seven European countries in the top 10, there are other notable cities which is ranked for a high quality of living such as Amsterdam, The Netherlands (14th); Oslo, Norway (24th); Stockholm, Sweden (26th); Paris, France (32nd); Helsinki, Finland (34th); and Dublin, Ireland (42nd).
When it comes to the United Kingdom capital, London, it has secured the 45th spot followed by Aberdeen at 49th, Edinburgh at 51st, Glasgow at 54th , Birmingham at 60th, and Belfast at 67th position.
Next comes the Eastern European cities including Prague, Czech Republic at 71st place followed by Budapest, Hungary at 80th and Warsaw, Poland at 84th.
These cities are experiencing a little decrease in the quality of living in the last few years.
These cites appear to have faced various challenges such as economic instability, political unrest, and social inequality which in turn have impacted the well-being of its residents.
