It is termed as bad news for Indians who are applying for a work visa in Saudi Arabia, considering the complexities.

But, with this latest update, it is about to become more challenging. 

Changes In Visa Regulations 

The Gulf nation has implemented major changes to its visa regulations for foreign workers, as per the media report.

Moreover, these new rules have already come into effect from January 14. 

Under these new rules, the Indian workers who wish to travel to Saudi Arabia need to complete pre-verification of their professional and educational qualifications before applying.

Besides this, the country has revised the rules for renewing residence permits (Iqama) for expatriates.

It is noteworthy here that these changes will have an important and significant impact on one of the major expatriate groups in Saudi Arabia. 

So far, the Indian community in Saudi Arabia is the second-largest expatriate group, with a population of over 2.4 million as per the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

Notably, both professionals and non-professionals will have to obtain work visas to work there.

What Are The Requirements For Indians  to Have a Saudi Work Visa?

First of all, they need a job offer letter as it is a must to have a job offer from a company in Saudi Arabia.

Besides job offers, the person will need an official Invitation Letter which needs to be provided by the company certified by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Chamber of Commerce.

Required Documents List

1. A valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank pages

2. A completed visa application form

Two recently taken passport-sized photographs with a white background

3. A signed employment contract

Certified educational and professional certificates

4. A medical certificate confirming fitness for work

5. A police clearance certificate

Process & Visa Fees 

Individuals have to submit their complete application form and documents at the nearest Saudi Embassy or Consulate.

Below is the list of Visa fees having different charges based on the type of visa

1.  Single Entry Work Visa: 2000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 43,800 INR)

2.  Multi Entry Work Visa: 3000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 65,700 INR)

3.  One-Year Work Visa: 5000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 109,500 INR)

4.  Two-Year Work Visa: 7000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 153,300 INR)

Usually, employer companies cover the cost of mandatory health insurance for foreign employees.

Please note here that the visa processing typically takes 1 to 3 weeks.

After approval of your visa, you are free to  travel to Saudi Arabia.

After arrival in Saudi Arabia, the employer will assist in obtaining a residence permit (Iqama), within 90 days which allows residency in Saudi Arabia.
