For the first time in the history, 2 Indian cities have been featured in the recently released list of top 50 world’s wealthiest cities of the world in the Wealthiest Cities Report.

Standing at 24th was the financial capital of India, Mumbai, whereas the national capital, Delhi, stood at 37 in the list.

Compiled by Henley & Partners in collaboration with New World Wealth, a global data intelligence firm, in this list, the wealthiest person has been defined as HNWIs (High worth individuals) who have a liquid investable wealth of USD 1 million or more. Then there are Centi-millionaires are those individuals with a wealth of more than USD 100 million to invest, and billionaires have more than USD 1000 million to invest.

As per the report, New York retains the spot of being the world’s wealthiest city with 349,500 millionaires having a combined total wealth of more than $3 trillion.

In general, United States lead the chart as the nation with 11 cities in top 50. Notably, it has 3 cities in the top 10.

Indian Cities of Mumbai and New Delhi 

Moving on to India, Mumbai ranked at 24th has 58,800 millionaires, 236 centi-millionaires and 29 billionaires.

At 37, Delhi has 30,700 millionaires, 123 centi-millionaires, and 16 billionaires. Delhi was ranked 37th in the wealthiest cities list.

Rise of the Asia Pacific has also reported in the report. 5 out of top 10 belong to the Asia-Pacific region. These cities include the Japanese capital city, Tokyo, is ranked third, Singapore is fourth, Sydney is eighth, Hong Kong is ninth, and Beijing is 10th.

Coming to the West Asia, Dubai emerged as the wealthiest city and was ranked 21st.

7 out of 10 fastest-growing millionaire cities in the world are in the Asian Pacific region. 

Fastest-growing city is the Chinese city of Shenzhen, whose millionaire population has grown by 140 percent to 50,300 in the last ten years (2013-2033).
