Samsung will release the One UI 6.0 beta based on Android 14 on August 2.
One UI is Samsung’s version of Google’s Android platform.
In brief
Samsung Germany customer support said that the company will begin testing the One UI 6.0 beta starting early next month.
The rollout was initially meant to happen in July but got delayed.
The OS update is meant for the Galaxy S23 family.
The phones are currently running on Android 13-based One UI 5.1.
Mid range phones also covered
A week later on August 9 the Galaxy A34 5G and Galaxy A54 5G will receive the update as well.
It is also expected that the company will open the beta program for users in India at the same time, since the One UI 6.0 section has been added to community forums in the country.
This should come as good news for the brand’s mid-rangers owning customers since typically beta releases focus on high-end models.
Android 14
Android 14 will bring new features and design improvements including new custom clock options for the lock screen and a battery health monitoring feature, similar to the iPhone.
Samsung promises to offer four years of OS updates and five years of security patches for the Galaxy S23 series.
One UI 5.1.1.
However, before One UI 6.0 is released, One UI 5.1.1 is yet to be delivered.
A beta version was rolled out for the Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Galaxy Tab S8 family earlier this month.
With the recent launch of the Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and Tab S9 series, this version is set to become available for these devices soon.
Eligible markets
Beta program for One UI 6.0 is expected to be available in select markets.
The ones that did not qualify will have to wait for the finished version of the update.

Final update
For certain devices, Android 14 will be the third and final big release.
After this, they will only receive security updates and one or two minor One UI updates.

No access to One UI 6.0
