Samsung recently unveiled its brand new Galaxy S24 lineup equipped with the latest One UI 6.1 skin and custom Galaxy AI functionality. While exclusive to the S24 series for now, Samsung has confirmed it is already testing these software upgrades on previous-gen Galaxy devices indicating an imminent wider rollout.
This includes its 2023 foldable and S series flagships along with premium tablets. One UI 6.1 focuses mainly on performance refinements like enhanced animations rather than major interface changes.
Real-time Translation and AI Photo/Video
But the Galaxy S24’s spotlight software features revolve around AI integration, whether the real-time translation capabilities working even during calls or smart image editing and generation features. Other AI enhancements aim to summarize content automatically, tweak interface tone based on user mood and more.
While the entire stack may not make it to older Galaxies, most One UI 6.1 goodies plus multiple key Galaxy AI tools will eventually land on S21 and above phones alongside Z Flip/Fold models as per Samsung.
One UI 6.1 Coming to S23, S22, Z Fold 5, Tab S9
More specifically, the S23 family, S22 line, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 along with the premium Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets are slated to receive significant One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI injections sometime later in 2024.
By optimizing the feature mix for older processor and camera architectures, Samsung aims to maximize next-gen software capabilities to even those owning 2022-2023 premium Galaxies. This will help widen access to cutting-edge functionality like seamless translation and intuitive AI assistance within the wider ecosystem.
