OnePlus has revealed the name of its first foldable smartphone, OnePlus Open.
This March it had officially announced that it will enter the foldable phone segment in the third quarter of 2023.
Head-to-head against Samsung
It broke the news on Twitter in response to Samsung’s event where, among other devices, it unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Galaxy Z Flip5.
It wrote in the post, “We OPEN when others FOLD”, implying a direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5, and not the Flip5.
A rebadged Oppo Find N3?
It appears to bear a sharp resemblance to the upcoming Oppo Find N3 based on some leaked CAD-based renders.
This could mean that the OnePlus Open will serve as the international version of the Find N3, which will likely remain exclusive to the Chinese market.
Screen
As per previous leaks and rumors, the OnePlus Open will have a 6.3-inch AMOLED cover screen with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate.
The primary screen will be a 7.8-inch LTPO AMOLED with a likely resolution of 1,900 x 2,100 and 120 Hz refresh rate.
Camera
The device features a 50MP (IMX 890) main camera accompanied by an ultra-wide lens and a periscope lens.
There is a 32MP (OV32C) front camera for selfies and video calls.
Processor
At the heart could be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
Battery
The phone should have a 4,800 mAh battery and 67W fast charging support.
Official announcement
The OnePlus Open is anticipated to be announced on August 29 in New York.
Launch is expected to take place in India, China, and the US.
