Initially highlighted by tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd), Nothing has released a teaser on its official X handle. The teaser, subtly embedded in an updated page description on the platform, hints at “something coming this week.” It is speculated that this could be related to the Nothing Phone 2a, recently a subject of rumors.
A prior report revealed the product’s presence on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certifications website, a signal often indicating an imminent launch in India. The product was listed with the model number A142, which aligns with the alleged Nothing Phone 2a’s model number, AIN142, albeit potentially modified for the Indian market.
Nothing Phone 2a To Come With Glyph Lighting Layout
An earlier leak also included an image of the Nothing Phone 2a, displaying a design resembling existing models with the familiar Glyph lighting layout. This leak also disclosed details about the display, reported to be a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen.
Given that this is anticipated to be the Nothing Phone 2a and not the Nothing Phone 3, expectations are that this model will be priced affordably with hardware features likely resembling those of the Nothing Phone 1.
There’s also a possibility that this might be a rebranded version of the Nothing Phone 1 with a slightly modified design. The Phone 1, previously marked as ‘out of stock’ on Flipkart, had experienced substantial discounts, dropping its price below Rs. 25,000 in India. This strategic move could allow Nothing to cater to two smartphone segments, especially considering the recent price cut of the Phone 2, bringing its base pricing down to a still premium Rs. 39,999 from the initial Rs. 44,999.
Introducing a mid-range handset, aligning with the pricing strategy of the initial phone, could potentially boost Nothing’s sales. The Nothing Phone 1, priced at Rs. 32,999 in India, gained popularity due to features like a Qualcomm processor, IP-rating, and wireless charging.
