In a massive infrastructure push, the Uttar Pradesh government has greenlit a new Greenfield Expressway to directly connect Noida and Lucknow, cutting the current 8–9 hour journey to just 3 hours. With an estimated budget of ₹45,000 crore, this high-speed corridor promises to transform connectivity, commerce, and travel in the region.

Targeted for completion by 2026, the expressway is part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision to build world-class road infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh.
Key Features of the Expressway
- Access-Controlled Design: The expressway will be fully access-controlled, meaning there will be no traffic signals or local intersections, ensuring a smooth, high-speed commute.
- Smart Tolling & Infrastructure: A smart tolling system, traffic management centres, overbridges, and service lanes will be part of the project to improve operational efficiency and safety.
- Multiple Entry/Exit Points: To ensure connectivity with nearby villages and cities, the expressway will include strategically placed entry and exit points.
Strategic Route Alignment
The new expressway will start near Noida and extend to the outskirts of Lucknow, possibly running parallel to or improving upon the connectivity of existing routes like the Agra–Lucknow Expressway and Ganga Expressway. It will likely integrate with other expressways to optimize connectivity between Delhi-NCR and Eastern UP.
Economic and Regional Impact
- Boost to Logistics & Business Travel: The corridor is expected to significantly reduce transportation time for goods and professionals, making it a game-changer for industries operating between NCR and central Uttar Pradesh.
- Real Estate Surge: Experts predict a spike in land and property values along the route, with development expected around entry points and toll plazas.
- Village-Level Development: Local businesses in rural areas along the highway are set to benefit from increased traffic, better accessibility, and economic stimulation.
A Vision for a Faster, Connected UP
This new expressway aligns with the Yogi government’s broader agenda to develop Uttar Pradesh into a modern, investor-friendly state. With its planned features and wide-reaching impact, the Noida–Lucknow Expressway is poised to be a landmark project in India’s road infrastructure journey.
