The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has floated a tender to hire a Detail Design Consultant (DDC) for three key Aqua Line extension projects. The consultant will prepare detailed designs for civil, architectural, electrical, and mechanical works, covering viaducts, elevated stations, depots, and substations.

Noida Metro To Be Expanded For Connecting Greater Noida With New Lines

The Three Proposed Extensions

  1. Depot to Boraki (2.6 km)
    • Connects Depot Station with Junpat village and Boraki metro stations.
    • Already cleared by both the state and central governments.
    • Awaiting design completion before tenders for developers are issued.
  2. Botanical Garden to Sector 142 (11.5 km, 8 stations)
    • Links Aqua Line to Botanical Garden metro, improving interchange with Delhi Metro.
    • Approved by the Public Investment Board (PIB). Final clearance from the Centre is pending.
  3. Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V (17.4 km, 11 stations)
    • Expected to boost connectivity for Greater Noida West.
    • DPR is under advanced discussion and awaiting PIB clearance.

Scope of Work for the Consultant

The DDC will design:

  • Civil Works: foundations, superstructures, viaducts, depots, and substations.
  • Architectural Components: station layouts, concourses, platforms, aesthetics, signage, and accessibility features.
  • Electrical & Mechanical Systems: lighting, ventilation, lifts, escalators, fire detection and suppression systems, and power supply integration.

Strategic Importance

The Aqua Line extensions, spanning 31.6 km with 21 stations, are critical for improving last-mile connectivity across Noida and Greater Noida. The Depot–Boraki line will connect Boraki’s proposed transport hub, while the Sector 51–Knowledge Park V stretch will ease commuting for Greater Noida West residents. Meanwhile, the Botanical Garden–Sector 142 line will provide a direct link to Delhi Metro’s Blue and Magenta Lines, strengthening inter-city mobility.

Next Steps

According to NMRC Executive Director Mahendra Prasad, once designs are finalized, tenders for developers will follow. The projects, once implemented, are expected to significantly decongest roads, enhance urban mobility, and provide seamless integration between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi.
