Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that there is no shortage of LPG cylinders or fuel in the state, accusing the Opposition of spreading misinformation and creating unnecessary panic among the public. The statement comes amid widespread concerns about cooking gas supply due to global energy disruptions and reports of long queues at LPG distribution centres.

Government Assures Adequate LPG Supply
Speaking to reporters in Chandrapur, Fadnavis said the Central government and oil companies have confirmed that there is sufficient supply of domestic LPG, petrol, and diesel across the country. He urged citizens not to panic or rush to gas agencies, stressing that the supply system remains stable.
According to the Chief Minister, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and taking steps to ensure uninterrupted distribution of cooking gas despite the global uncertainties affecting energy markets.
Opposition Accused of Spreading Fear
Fadnavis alleged that leaders from the Congress party and other opposition groups were making statements that falsely suggested a shortage of cooking gas, which has triggered public anxiety.
He said such remarks have led many people to queue up outside LPG distribution centres even though the supply remains adequate. The Chief Minister described these claims as an attempt to damage the image of the Central government and create political controversy around the issue.
Centre Monitoring Global Energy Situation
The Chief Minister also pointed out that the Central government is closely tracking the global energy situation, especially developments linked to tensions in West Asia that have affected oil and gas supply routes.
Despite these challenges, he said authorities are ensuring that fuel shipments and domestic distribution continue smoothly, preventing any actual shortage in the country.
Opposition Responds to the Allegations
Congress leaders rejected the Chief Minister’s accusations, saying they were merely highlighting public concerns. State Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal said people in several areas had reported long queues and delays in LPG delivery, which prompted the Opposition to raise the issue.
He argued that addressing citizens’ difficulties should not be seen as an attempt to create panic.
Larger Context: Energy Concerns in India
India has been closely monitoring its energy supplies as geopolitical tensions in West Asia have disrupted global oil and gas trade routes. While some disruptions have affected commercial gas availability and hospitality businesses, officials maintain that household LPG supply remains a priority and is adequately stocked.
Authorities have repeatedly appealed to citizens not to panic book cylinders or hoard supplies, as distribution networks continue to function normally.
