To ease travel during the busy summer season and cater to growing passenger demand, Western Railway has announced the launch of new special trains and the extension of existing ones. The new services include Superfast Tejas Specials connecting Mumbai Central with Rajkot and Gandhidham, offering enhanced comfort and speed at special fares.
New Tejas Superfast Specials: Mumbai Central to Rajkot and Gandhidham
Western Railway will run two pairs of special Tejas Superfast trains with modern amenities and faster travel times. These trains feature First AC, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier coaches for passenger convenience.
Mumbai Central – Rajkot Tejas Superfast Bi-Weekly Special (Train No. 09005/09006):
This train departs Mumbai Central every Wednesday and Friday at 23:20, reaching Rajkot at 11:45 the next day. It will operate from May 30 to June 27, 2025. The return journey from Rajkot to Mumbai Central runs on Thursdays and Saturdays, departing at 18:30 and arriving at 07:30 the next day.
The train stops at key stations en route such as Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Surendranagar, and Wankaner.
Mumbai Central – Gandhidham Tejas Superfast Weekly Special (Train No. 09017/09018):
This weekly special departs Mumbai Central every Monday at 23:20, reaching Gandhidham at 12:55 the next day. It will run from June 2 to June 30, 2025. The return train leaves Gandhidham every Tuesday at 18:55, arriving in Mumbai Central at 07:30 the following day.
Stops along the route include Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Samakhiyali, and Bhachau.
Extension of Existing Special Trains
To further accommodate passenger demand, Western Railway has extended the operation of several special trains:
- Train No. 09067 Udhna-Jayanagar Unreserved Special till June 29, 2025
- Train No. 09068 Jayanagar-Udhna Unreserved Special till June 30, 2025
- Train No. 09069 Udhna-Samastipur Special till June 28, 2025
- Train No. 09070 Samastipur-Udhna Special till June 30, 2025
Booking Details
Ticket booking for the new Tejas specials (train numbers 09005, 09006, 09017, and 09018) starts from May 25, 2025. Booking for the extended journey of train number 09069 will open from May 27, 2025. Passengers can book tickets through all PRS counters and the IRCTC website.
