In a latest update, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning a new flyover near Sadahalli Junction in a bid to ease traffic jams in Bengaluru and on the way to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).
How Does It Help?
They are planning to construct this new flyover at this busy junction to offer hassle-free travel for vehicles heading towards the airport via Hebbal.
This is an anticipated move by the NHAI as the Kempegowda International Airport handles approximately 750 flights daily, with over 1 lakh passengers using the facility.
It appears that almost 80% of passengers travel to the airport through Hebbal, again highlighting the route’s importance.
They have planned to start the tender process for this new project soon.
This latest initiative will definitely bring hope for a smoother ride for all who use this vital route.
Concept Of A New Flyover Addresses Traffic Woes
As we know, the NHAI has already constructed a 13-km-long flyover from Hebbal’s Esteem Mall to Yelahanka Air Base, to manage the heavy traffic flow during busy hours.
It also provides a signal-free stretch for airport-bound vehicles.
But it appears that the traffic issue at Sadahalli Junction near the toll plaza remains a significant issue.
So, the vehicles face delays at a traffic signal and again at the toll plaza, leading to prolonged travel times and inconvenience.
It seems that the traffic signals at key locations like Kodigehalli, Byatarayanapura, Jakkur, and Allalasandra create additional delays for vehicles that don’t use the Hebbal flyover presently.
After that these vehicles rejoin Bellary Road where they must navigate through these signals before reaching the signal-free stretch at Yelahanka Air Force Station.
It appears that the NHAI is considering the construction of flyovers at these signals as this will help in streamline the traffic flow for vehicles travelling below the Hebbal flyover.
Besides this, it will also ensure a completely signal-free journey from Hebbal to the airport.
