The ‘EPS-95 Rashtriya Sangharsh Samiti’ has demanded the increase in the minimum pension received by the salaried class under EPS from Rs 1,000 to Rs 7,500 and has given given 15 days’ notice to increase to do the same.

There had been a long standing demand to increase the minimum monthly pension received by the salaried class under EPS.
EPS-95 Rashtriya Sangharsh Samiti Gives Notice to Ministry to Hike the Monthly Pension
But as per the latest developments, after repeat suggestions and requests, now the ‘EPS-95 Rashtriya Sangharsh Samiti’ had given 15 days’ notice to the Ministry of Labor to increase the minimum monthly pension from Rs 1,000 to Rs 7,500.
In the notice given by the committee, there are not mincing words and saying that failing to meet their demand would eventually lead to an organized nationwide movement.
Employees’ Pension Scheme-1995 ie EPS-95 is operated by the retirement fund body Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Under this, more than six crore shareholders and 75 lakh pensioners are beneficiaries.
Limited Medical Facilities for Pensioners Also Brought Up
Medical facilities for pensioners are also limited and as per the Sangharsh Samiti due to this the death rate of pensioners is increasing. Hence the committee has written a letter to the Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav.
Failing to increase the pension amount would lead to nationwide uproar which could include the stoppage of rail and road transport and take steps like fasting unto death.
The committee has demanded raising the minimum pension from Rs 1,000 to Rs 7,500 with dearness allowance announced at regular intervals. Along with this, the committee has also demanded payment of pension on actual salary as per the decisions of the Supreme Court on 4 October 2016 and 4 November 2022.
