Suzuki has revealed the great Indian hatchback the Swift at the Tokyo Motor Show.
It had recently released the pictures, calling it a concept, however it might be an almost production ready model.
Exterior
Coming to the design, the company has kept the silhouette and overall styling of the outgoing model.
It gets similar looking headlamps but the styling gets some minor tweaks.
Other changes include a new grille with honeycomb pattern and the Suzuki logo has now been shifted to the hood.
The grille gets a front camera and a plastic panel which contains the radar for ADAS.
The front bumpers also get some tweaks.
The front fog lamps get different housing and a cleaner look than before.
The bonnet also gets an SUV-like clamshell design with a new and evident horizontal shut line.
Overall, the exterior looks fresher and more aggressive than the existing model.
Side profile
Side profile also remains relatively the same.
The major design change is on the rear door where it has repositioned the rear door handles.
Earlier it used to be placed on the C-pillars but is now placed on the doors itself.
Other side profile changes include new alloy wheels.
Interior and Features
The new gen Swift gets an all new dashboard layout with black and white dual-tone theme.
A big addition is a new free standing touchscreen system which was previously integrated onto the dashboard.
The old circular AC vents are now horizontal.
The feature list includes – all new 9.0-inch touchscreen system that could get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, ADAS, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold and potentially the addition of six airbags.
Engine and Transmission
The latest model will get a strong hybrid powertrain.
The exact power figures are unknown but it could come with a 48V strong hybrid powertrain.
However, it is uncertain if Suzuki will offer it with hybrid powertrain in India.
The other engine will be the same 1.2-litre engine that powers the current gen model.
It is a petrol engine that produces 88.5bhp and 113Nm of torque and comes paired to a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission.
Launch and Price
It will launch in Japan later this year and could come to India in early 2024.
A price hike of Rs 80k to 1 lakh is expected over the current model.
