Considering the present chaos, the Delhi government is now taking some efforts in making the roads of the capital cleaner, safer and more organised with their latest initiative.

Expected Major Revamp In Delhi
Under this initiative, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is launching a special campaign, “One Road – One Day,” from September 1.
They would be considering one major road in each zone which will be completely revamped every day as per this latest campaign.
For the unawares, this proposal is already approved by the Standing Committee reportedly.
In this regards, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee, Satya Sharma, has issued directions to all Additional Commissioners and Zonal Deputy Commissioners to implement the campaign with complete seriousness and commitment as they need to showcase the transformation of Delhi reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2.
A nodal officer should be appointed in each zone to prepare the action plan and monitor the implementation of works under the “One Road – One Day” scheme as noted by Satya Sharma.
Plan To Address Ground-level Requirements
In order to implement this, they need to create a list of roads in each zone and accordingly a priority-wise action plan must be developed.
They also need to take suggestions from the local councillors and MLAs to ensure the plan addresses ground-level requirements.
For this task, the Zonal Deputy Commissioners will be held accountable and he must submit weekly progress reports to the Commissioner.
They also need to ensure adequate budgetary provisions for the proper execution of this task along with the availability of resources such as mechanical sweepers, fogging machines, tree-cutting tools, new street lights, and more.
During the execution of this project, they need to share the photographs and daily progress updates of the revamped roads on social media platforms in order to ensure complete transparency and promote citizen engagement.
Please note here that they need to include the roads under the jurisdiction of other agencies like PWD, where MCD handles cleaning, under this campaign.
As planned, MCD will execute works which are falling under their jurisdiction and formally notify concerned departments for other related matters.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has directed that the road repair and topping, footpath leveling and repair, cleaning and beautification of medians and edges, pruning of trees, painting of grills, repair or replacement of signage, garbage and debris clearance, streetlight repair, removal of encroachments, and other preventive measures will be carried out mandatorily.
