Good news for train travellers in South India! Indian Railways is all set to launch a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Ernakulam and Bengaluru, further boosting inter-state connectivity between Kerala and Karnataka. The new service, developed by Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and operated by the Southern Railway zone, is expected to launch by mid-November 2025.
🌆 Strengthening Kerala’s High-Speed Rail Network
This new semi-high-speed train will be the third Vande Bharat service in Kerala, after:
- Kasargod–Trivandrum–Kasargod Vande Bharat (20633/20634)
- Mangalore–Trivandrum–Mangalore Vande Bharat (20631/20632)
With this addition, Kerala’s rail passengers will enjoy better access to Bengaluru — one of South India’s busiest travel routes — with reduced travel time and enhanced comfort.

The Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express will make halts at key junctions including Thrissur, Palakkad, and Coimbatore, connecting major urban and commercial hubs of South India. The route ensures smoother interstate travel for professionals, students, and tourists alike.

Capable of speeds up to 160 kmph, the Vande Bharat Express combines speed, efficiency, and comfort. The train is designed for rapid acceleration, enabling passengers to reach destinations faster while enjoying a stable and quiet ride experience.
