The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Kanpur into a leading hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. Under the Kanpur Metropolitan Development Vision – 2030, the project promises to inject Rs 700 crore into the state economy and establish a thriving EV ecosystem.
A 500-Acre EV Park Along a Strategic Freight Corridor
The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) will develop a state-of-the-art EV park over 500 acres near Bhimsen, adjacent to the dedicated freight corridor. The location offers a strategic advantage due to excellent rail and road connectivity, which will ensure efficient logistics for raw materials and finished products.
Public-Private Partnership to Drive Growth
The EV park will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, ensuring both public and private stakeholders contribute to and benefit from the region’s growth. This collaborative approach is expected to attract both Indian and global investors into Kanpur’s emerging EV ecosystem.
Strengthening the Local EV Supply Chain
According to officials, the EV park will house facilities to manufacture key components such as electric motors, chassis, steel parts, and lithium-ion cells. Dedicated R&D Centre to Power Innovation
