Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are months away from their rumored September 2026 launch, but the leaks haven’t stopped as there are rumors, the upcoming Pro iPhones will include some major changes that are designed to deliver an even better user experience.

Upgrades Rumored For iPhone 18 Pro Series

Let’s go through the game-changing upgrades rumored for the iPhone 18 Pro series.

Smaller Dynamic Island With Under-display FaceID

A previous report suggested that the iPhone 18 Pro Series will include an under-display FaceID, but not the selfie camera. Because of this, the overall size of the Dynamic Island is expected to decrease significantly. The dynamic island could appear like a punch hole cutout seen in most Android phones, as per the information provided by the tipster Jon Prosser.

Variable aperture camera

The iPhone 18 Pro series’ main camera will feature a mechanical variable aperture system, said Ming-Chi Kuo on Medium, a highly reliable Apple analyst and leaker in a December 23, 2024, report. With the help of this feature, it will allow the aperture to change focal size dynamically on the go, adjusting how much light enters the sensor and controlling the depth of field for more precise photographic results.

2nm Apple A20 Pro chipset

The upcoming Apple A20 Pro chipset, expected to power the iPhone 18 Pro series, will be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process as per a previous leak.

The upcoming A20 Pro chip will not only be faster but also more power-efficient all thanks to the improved process, although it will increase the manufacturing prices, reportedly.

The present iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with the Apple N1 wireless chip, but Apple is expected to upgrade it to the N2 wireless chip.

Bigger batteries

Apple appears to be increasing the battery capacities of both the eSIM and non-eSIM variants of the iPhone 18 Pro series smartphones as per the reports.

Basically, a larger battery, combined with more power-efficient components, will lead to a better battery life.

Dramatically Transform iPhone Pro Experience

These changes could dramatically transform the iPhone Pro experience and may represent a bigger upgrade than the one the iPhone 17 Pro series offered over its predecessor, considering the reports.

So far, there is a lot of time as we are still months away from launch, so things may change.
