While representing a notable—if belated—development within the smartphone industry, Apple recently announced the introduction of 120Hz displays in the forthcoming standard iPhone 17 series, projected to be released in 2025.

iPhone Will Finally Have A 5-Year Old Xiaomi Feature For Displays

The industry first calling it belated as Xiaomi first implemented this technology with the REDMI K30 in 2020, almost marking a five-year gap between the two manufacturers’ adoption of high-refresh-rate displays.

Moving ahead, the temporal disparity calls for a  critical examination of innovation trajectories within the mobile sector.

iPhone 17 Standard Specifications

As mentioned earlier, the standard iPhone 17 will feature a 120Hz OLED display, protected by Ceramic Shield, reported by IT Home.

Moreover, the standard model is anticipated to offer a fixed 120Hz rate, unlike the Pro series  which features Apple’s ProMotion adaptive refresh technology.

Besides this, the other specifications include the A18 processor (using the advanced 3nm N3E process), 8GB of RAM, a 48MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a proprietary Wi-Fi 7 chip, and enhanced MagSafe charging capabilities.

Early Adoption By Xiaomi

As we know that the Xiaomi started earlier with deployment of 120Hz displays in 2020, particularly in the REDMI K30.

This has signified  the Brand’s strategic commitment to democratizing advanced display technology.

Which is far different from Apple, which initially confined high-refresh-rate screens to its flagship Pro models.

On the other hand, Xiaomi extended this feature across a broader product range, hence making premium display experiences accessible to a wider consumer demographic.

How Does It Affects The Consumers and Smartphone Industry?

This latest move by Apple in which the brand has considered the adoption of 120Hz technology in its standard iPhone lineup is most likely be interpreted as validation of Xiaomi’s earlier investment in display innovation.

This would definitely impress the consumers who are transitioning from Xiaomi to Apple devices, as they will now experience comparable levels of display fluidity, this way eliminating a longstanding gap in user experience.

In case of the Xiaomi users who are seeking further device optimization will definitely like to  try the tools such as the MemeOS Enhancer app.

These tools are available via the Play Store which offer additional customization options such as the activation of hidden features and advanced system controls.
