Plans are underway for Apple’s developer conference, WWDC 2024. It is anticipated that iOS 18 will be a major focal point of the occasion.

The largest redesign in iOS history is reportedly coming with the latest OS upgrade. There will be an introduction of various AI functions and customizable possibilities.

iOS 18 To Allow Users To Customize Their Home Screens

It is anticipated that the ability to alter the color of app icons will be provided. Users will have the ability to customize their home screens as they see fit.

The ability to arrange apps anywhere on the grid will completely change the way that home screens are organized. There will be more control over how apps are arranged thanks to the move away from the conventional locked grid style.

It is expected that iOS 18 will include a large amount of AI functionality.

There will be functions like voice memo transcription, picture editing, and automatically generated emojis.

Siri to Become More Intelligent Via iOS18

With iOS 18, Siri should become more intelligent.

More lifelike interactions will be provided by using large language models (LLMs).

Siri will come with enhanced proactive intelligence as well as deeper app integration and  will provide improved features including sentence completion and task automation.

Additionally, there will be design improvements that modernize the look and improve usability. Reports have confirmed that the entire user experience will be improved by subtle design adjustments.

In addition to that, iOS 18 will bring updates to various native apps, such as Maps and Safari.

New tools and an improved design will be added to Safari to enhance browsing.Apps like Notes, Calendar, and Reminders will get AI-powered functionality.

There are rumors that Safari will have a web eraser tool and an intelligent search function. Topographic maps and customized routes will be supported by Apple Maps.

AI-generated summaries and voice memo transcription will enhance the functionality of apps such as Notes, Calendar, and Reminders. Workflows in native apps will be streamlined by a seamless interface with Siri and Shortcuts.

iOS 18 To Be Released in Fall

After a public testing phase in July, the official release of iOS 18 is probably going to happen in the fall.

It is expected that the iPhone XR and subsequent variants would be compatible with iOS 18.

There will probably be a developer testing phase for iOS 18 at WWDC 2024.

It is anticipated that iOS 18 will be unveiled during the June Worldwide Developers Conference.
