Apple has consistently experimented with the size and features of its iPhone lineup over the past few years. From the introduction of the compact iPhone 12 mini to the larger iPhone 14 Plus, Apple has explored various options to meet diverse consumer preferences. As the tech giant continues to refine its offerings, rumors suggest that a new model, the iPhone 17 Air, may be on the horizon for 2024.

iPhone Air Series Will Completely Replace iPhone Plus In 2025

The Rise and Fall of the iPhone Mini and Plus Models

In 2020, Apple introduced the iPhone 12 mini, followed by the iPhone 13 mini in 2021. These smaller-sized iPhones were designed to cater to users who preferred a more compact device. However, despite the initial excitement, the mini models did not achieve significant commercial success. In response, Apple shifted gears and launched the iPhone 14 Plus, a larger alternative aimed at those who favor bigger screens.

The Plus model has garnered more attention, but it seems Apple is not entirely satisfied with its current lineup. As we approach September 2024, when the iPhone 16 Plus is expected to be released, rumors are circulating that Apple may introduce a new “Air” model in the iPhone 17 lineup.

The iPhone 17 Air: What to Expect

According to a report by Bloomberg, the iPhone 17 lineup is anticipated to include several models, including the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and potentially, the iPhone 17 Air. The “Air” version is expected to sit between the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro, offering a unique blend of features that appeal to a broad audience.

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to come with a 6.65-inch LTPO display, supporting ProMotion technology with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This would be a significant upgrade, as ProMotion has been exclusive to Apple’s Pro models. The Air model is also expected to share some features with the Pro versions, although it’s unclear whether it will include the same advanced processors.

A Sleek and Lightweight Design

True to its name, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a slim, lightweight design that aligns with the “Air” branding used in Apple’s MacBook Air and iPad Air product lines. This design approach could attract users who prioritize portability and elegance in their devices.

Conclusion

As Apple continues to evolve its iPhone lineup, the potential introduction of the iPhone 17 Air signals the company’s commitment to offering diverse options that cater to different user preferences. With its anticipated advanced display technology and sleek design, the iPhone 17 Air could become a standout model in Apple’s 2024 lineup.
