Apple has officially launched the iPhone 17 series at its 2025 ‘Awe-Dropping’ event in Cupertino, California. The lineup includes four models — iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the brand-new iPhone 17 Air, which Apple describes as its “most durable yet thinnest” iPhone.

Key Features Of iPhone 17 Series

The iPhone 17 comes with a 6.3-inch ProMotion display, powered by the new A19 chipset featuring a six-core CPU and five-core GPU. Apple has also introduced a 48-megapixel dual-fusion camera system with 4X higher resolution than the iPhone 16, alongside a 12-megapixel telephoto lens.

The highlight of the event was the iPhone 17 Air, measuring just 5.6mm thick. Despite its slim profile, CEO Tim Cook emphasized its strength:

“It exceeds our stringent bend-strength requirements. It’s more durable than any previous iPhone.”

Global Pricing Breakdown

  • US: iPhone 17 ($799), iPhone 17 Air ($999), iPhone 17 Pro ($1099), iPhone 17 Pro Max ($1199)
  • India: iPhone 17 (₹82,900), iPhone 17 Air (₹119,900), iPhone 17 Pro (₹134,900), iPhone 17 Pro Max (₹149,900)
  • UK: Starts from £799, with the Air at £999, Pro at £1,099, and Pro Max at £1,199
  • Other Markets: Canada, Australia, and Dubai also saw parallel pricing announcements tailored for local buyers.

Why iPhone 17 Air Stands Out

The iPhone 17 Air is Apple’s thinnest-ever smartphone, making it a standout for design enthusiasts. Available in four colours, it caters to users who want portability without compromising durability or power. Positioned between the base and Pro models, it balances aspirational design with premium pricing.

Market Outlook

India remains a key focus for Apple, with the iPhone 17 starting under ₹83,000 — a competitive price for aspirational yet cost-conscious buyers. With rising adoption of non-Pro models in India (as highlighted in Croma’s recent study), the iPhone 17 and 17 Air could become strong volume drivers, while the Pro and Pro Max target premium users
