Apple’s next flagship iPhone 16 lineup slated for later this year may bring noticeable improvements like enhanced RAM, Wi-Fi capabilities and cameras compared to current models, according to fresh leaks.
Non-Pro iPhones to Get Key Upgrades
Analyst Jeff Pu claims non-pro iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be powered by 3nm A18 chip versus 4nm A15 currently. They are also said to receive a boost from 6GB to 8GB RAM for better multitasking.
Additionally, the phones are tipped to add support for Wi-Fi 6E standard, promising faster speeds over Wi-Fi. They will retain Qualcomm’s X70 5G modem from iPhone 15 series.
These upgrades to RAM and wireless connectivity in vanilla models will bring them closer to existing iPhone 15 Pro capabilities.
Pro Models May Sport Telephoto Zoom Lens, 48MP Camera
Meanwhile, the pricier iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are expected to feature an improved 48MP ultra-wide camera sensor against existing 12MP sensor. This huge bump in resolution will enable capturing sharper, more detailed landscape and architecture shots.
Ming-Chi Kuo also earlier predicted iPhone 16 Pro getting a dedicated periscope telephoto lens with optical zoom at par with Max model.
The iPhone 16 Pro duo could also add Wi-Fi 7 support and equip the newest X75 5G modem chip by Qualcomm for even faster cellular data speeds.
Rumors indicate Apple may ultimately brand these as iPhone 15s series rather than iPhone 16. But they are still likely to offer compelling hardware changes to accelerate upgrade cycles among consumers. Enhanced photography and connectivity capabilities appear to be main focus areas.
