In relation to Bhopal Junction, the city’s primary railway station, the station serves as a secondary station. In June 2007, the station was privatized, which marked the beginning of private railway station management in India.
The station was redeveloped using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, in which a private company and the government worked together to upgrade infrastructure. In order to improve services and boost revenue, Indian Railways has implemented modernization initiatives.
