Starting December 1, Thailand will implement an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for travellers from visa-exempt countries, such as India. The initiative is designed to simplify immigration procedures and enhance security, ensuring a seamless experience for tourists. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the system will allow for better visitor tracking while maintaining Thailand’s appeal as a popular tourist destination.

Indians Will Get Electronic Visa For Thailand Starting December 1

Details of the ETA System
The ETA will be valid for a single entry, permitting a stay of up to 60 days, with the option of extending the stay by another 30 days. Tourists will need to fill out an online form to apply for the ETA, with no processing fees. By June 2025, Thailand aims to integrate the ETA with its existing electronic visa system, creating a unified online platform for travellers.

Seamless Entry and Automated Immigration Gates
One of the major benefits of the ETA is the use of automated immigration gates, which will reduce time spent with immigration officers. Travellers will simply scan their ETA QR code upon arrival, making the process more efficient. However, border control officials will still retain the authority to grant or deny entry.

Conclusion
This new system reflects Thailand’s commitment to enhancing travel convenience while ensuring national security. Travellers are encouraged to stay updated on the latest developments to make the most of their visits.
