The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, is a fervent supporter of the H-1B program, citing its value in preserving a pool of highly qualified workers that are vital to the American economy.

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, also called the H-1B visa program a “great program” and reaffirmed his support for skilled professionals working in the United States. Trump brushed aside criticism of the H-1B visa program, reiterating its function in luring highly qualified foreign workers to the United States, including engineers and computer scientists.

The H-1B program, which permits U.S. employers to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations, comes with several fees that can vary based on the petition type and the size of the employer.
