Maruti Suzuki Dzire Emerges Top in Sedan Sales; Followed By Hyundai Aura
In August 2023, Maruti Suzuki Dzire claimed the top spot in sedan sales, selling a total of 13,293 units compared to 11,868 units in the same period last year, marking a 12% year-on-year increase in sales volume.
The Hyundai Aura secured the second position, with a total of 4,892 units sold last month, up from 4,378 units in the same period last year, representing a 12% year-on-year sales growth. The Honda Amaze ranked third, with a total of 3,564 units sold in August 2023, up from 3,418 units in August 2022, marking a 4% increase in volume. The Tata Tigor came in fourth place, with 2,947 units sold, reflecting a 15% year-on-year volume decrease from 3,486 units.
The new generation Hyundai Verna took the fifth position, with a total of 2,576 units sold domestically in August, compared to 1,734 units in the same period a year ago, representing an impressive 49% year-on-year sales surge. The 2023 Hyundai Verna received various updates both inside and outside and is powered by a new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, delivering approximately 160 PS of maximum power and 253 Nm of peak torque.
In the lower half of the table, VW’s Virtus secured the sixth position, with a total of 2,140 units sold, experiencing a remarkable 145% year-on-year sales increase from 873 units in the corresponding period last year. The Skoda Slavia ranked seventh, with a total of 1,657 units sold in August 2023, down from 1,941 units in August 2022, marking a 57% year-on-year volume decline.
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz claimed the ninth position, with a total of 849 units sold through Nexa dealerships, showing a 44% year-on-year decrease from the 1,516 units registered in August 2022. The Toyota Camry Hybrid rounded out the top ten in sedan sales.
