Green Line Issue Is Impacting OLED Displays Of Several Smartphones: Thousands Of Users Are Complaining

OEM Rushes to Fix Green Line On Display Issue

It appears that the social media and consumer forums are filled with instances of consumers complaining about green lines appearing on the display of their smartphones after a few months of use.

After looking closely, this issue seems to be affecting smartphones with OLED displays.

Interestingly, this is also a type of panel often marketed as being of superior quality.

But now sporting an appearance of horizontal or vertical green line on the display permanently till it’s on.

Besides this, the normal operations remain unaffected reportedly.

After occurrence of these instances, a few brands such as OnePlus and Oppo have proactively offered to and resolved the issue for complaining users.

Moreover, the issue of the appearance of green line has been reported for handsets from major brands and across all price ranges.

The issue started after a software update has been pushed out or when the phone overheats, as per the evidence documented by users on social media.

OnePlus’s Take On Green Line Issue

In the case of the OnePlus smartphone, several users have encountered an occurrence of green lights displaying on their screens.

Recently, the smartphone maker has unveiled a fresh initiative aimed specifically at addressing the issue of screens exhibiting a green tint, in order to reassure its customer base.

While confirming the news, a representative from OnePlus has said that all impacted phones will now be covered by a lifetime screen warranty.

In addition to that, certain users might also qualify for discounts on upgrades.

All in all, any OnePlus device afflicted by the green tint screen problem will now be eligible for a complimentary screen replacement.

The OnePlus spokesperson said,”We realize that this issue has caused a great deal of inconvenience to the affected users, and we apologize for it. In line with our unwavering commitment, we encourage users to visit the nearest OnePlus service center for device diagnosis, and we will provide free screen replacement for all devices affected by the situation. On select OnePlus 8 and 9 Series devices, we are also offering a voucher that will provide the user with a fair percentage of the device value to upgrade to a new OnePlus device.”

What About Motorola and Other OEMs?

Similar to OnePlus, Motorola phones are also affected with the Green Line display issue.

Notably, this issue does not affect the vital functioning of the device.

However, it is quite annoying to see a strange colored slash on your smartphone while playing games or watching videos, or during any other activity.

For the unwares, replacing the display is the only way to fix the green line problem on your Motorola phone screen.

Unfortunately, nothing can be done by the end-user on the software that can fix the problem.

In case your Motorola phone is under warranty and shows no signs of external damage or water damage, then more than likely, the green line issue will be considered a hardware defect and will be repaired free of charge under warranty.

Many OEMs including Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus have advised their service centers and support channels to assist users affected by green line issues and repair devices free of charge even outside the warranty period.

Witnessing this, Motorola users are also expecting the company will give various replacement offers to the users who are facing the problem of green lines.

Lets see how this problem will be tackled by various OEMs as now many users are facing this problem.
