With this piece of good news, the Holi in 2025 could turn out to be extra special for central government employees and pensioners.

Government Employees Might Get DA Hike Before The Holi
As per the rumours, this good news is about to drop before the festival as Holi falls on March 14 this year.
There are talks that the government might announce a hike in the dearness allowance (DA) for central employees before the Holi celebrations commence.
With this increase in DA, the government is aiming at easing the burden of inflation.
This could also lead to a noticeable boost in both salaries and pensions.
For the unawares, the dearness allowance gets adjusted twice a year—once on January 1 and again on July 1, under the 7th Pay Commission.
If we follow this schedue, the first adjustment for 2025 will kick in on January 1, so we are expecting to hear the official announcement in March.
But, so far, there is no news from the government as they haven’t confirmed anything yet.
How Much DA Hike Is Expected This Time?
According to employee groups, the government might announce a 3 to 4 percent increase in dearness allowance for central employees and pensioners around Holi in March 2025.
This holds a great significance for employees for instance, an entry-level central government employee has a basic salary of about Rs 18,000 per month.
Now their salary could rise by Rs 540-720 starting January 1, 2025 with this Implementation.
Consider another case, where a government employee earns Rs 30,000 a month, with a basic salary of Rs 18,000.
In his salary, he is receiving Rs 9,000 as dearness allowance, which is 50 percent of their basic pay.
So, in case the DA goes up by 3 percent then they would get Rs 9,540 instead of Rs 9,000, meaning an increase of Rs 540.
For a 4 percent hike, the DA would rise to Rs 9,720.
Please note here that this rise in DA not only affects the government workers but also applicable to the pensioners.
So, you can say that over 1 crore central employees and pensioners are waiting for this good news.
Its slightly different in case pensioners as while employees get Dearness Allowance (DA), pensioners receive something called Dearness Relief.
