Extreme weather has caused delays in the project, limiting construction to only three to four months of the year.
Gadkari described the conditions, saying: “It is a very difficult task as the temperature drops to minus 8 degrees Celsius, and we can only continue work for three to four months a year due to the harsh conditions.”
Despite the challenges, Gadkari expressed confidence that the road will be finished soon, adding: “I am trying. This time, after April, I will also be visiting the site. It will be ready soon.”
After it is completed, the new road will provide a direct path from Pithoragarh to Kailash Mansarovar, avoiding the existing routes via Sikkim and Nepal.
