Tech giant Google is making headlines with a massive $15 billion (₹1.2 lakh crore+) investment in India, marking one of the largest single foreign investments in the country’s history.

The investment will be used to build a state-of-the-art AI and data centre hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, positioning India as a key player in the global AI and cloud ecosystem.


A Mega AI Hub in Visakhapatnam

The project will be developed near Visakhapatnam, spanning multiple campuses across:

  • Adavivaram
  • Tarluvada
  • Rambilli

Spread over 600+ acres, the hub will include:

  • Gigawatt-scale data centre infrastructure
  • High-speed fiber and digital networks
  • International subsea cable connectivity

The facility is expected to be operational by 2028, becoming one of the largest AI hubs globally.


Why This Investment Is a Big Deal

This isn’t just another data centre—it’s a strategic AI infrastructure project.

Key highlights:

  • Largest investment by Google in India to date
  • One of the biggest foreign direct investments (FDI) ever
  • Part of a 5-year plan (2026–2030)

The hub will also integrate with Google’s global network of data centres and 2 million miles of cables, boosting India’s digital backbone.
