Google has made a significant announcement regarding its plans to address a bug in Android 14 that has adversely affected a subset of Pixel phones, specifically those running multiple user profiles.

Google Starts Investigating Bugs In Android 14, Especially For Pixel Users

The company has committed to thoroughly investigating the issue and issuing a solution.

Google Announces Investigation of Bug in Android 14

This development arose from a situation that primarily impacted owners of Pixel 6 devices as soon as the Android 14 update was rolled out.

The reported problems encompassed a range of issues, from missing applications to users being locked out of the internal storage associated with their device’s user accounts. Pixel 6 owners who were affected by these issues faced substantial inconvenience and frustration.

Acknowledging the severity of the problem, a Google representative has offered assurance that their team is actively engaged in resolving this vulnerability. The representative shared, “Our team is looking into this storage issue affecting some Pixel devices running Android 14, and we’re working hard on a fix. We’ll update this thread with more details soon.” This statement was issued on the Google issue tracker portal, which received a remarkable response, with over 350 replies from Pixel owners, as well as reports from owners of various other devices, as reported by Ars Technica.

What Problems Have Been Reported?

The reported problems have included users experiencing boot loops, getting stuck on a ‘Pixel is starting…’ message, or encountering limitations in accessing their phones. A substantial number of users have been unable to capture on-device screenshots, as the phone consistently reported a lack of available storage for such purposes.

The good news is that with Google’s dedicated team now investigating the matter, a resolution is anticipated to be rolled out shortly, bringing relief to affected users.

It’s important to note that Android 14 was made available to the general public and the Android Open Source Project on October 4, 2023. The initial devices to feature Android 14 were the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, ushering in a range of updates designed to empower users to customize their device experience, gain more control over their health and safety, and enhance overall accessibility.
