Fresh renders have surfaced showing Google’s purported Pixel 9 likely featuring significant redesign elements like the new Pro model. This includes an oval-shaped rear camera hump, flat frame with exposed screw antennas and SIM slot relocated at the base.
As per images via OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, the Pixel 9 adopts some Pro-only features so far like a polished metal-and-glass aesthetic with 3 total cameras. If true, it would be a first for non-Pro Pixels. The leaked design represents a major overhaul over predecessors.
Downsized 6.1-inch Screen But Larger Body
Specs wise, the Pixel 9 display gets a slight 0.1-inch shrink to 6.1-inches versus the Pixel 8, a contrary move as brands opt bigger. But despite the smaller screen, its overall footprint appears increased in all dimensions versus last year confusingly.
This Pixel 9 Pro also exhibits a discrepancy whereby the screen reduces by 0.2-inches but body dimensions go up. Reasons behind these proportional mismatches are unclear – it could signal larger batteries being accommodated or changes to internal layout.
Signature Google Tensor G4 Chip Likely
For internals, rumors speculate the entire Pixel 9 family will equip the next generation Google Tensor G4 built by Samsung Foundry. This likely leverages an Exynos base indicating the continuation of Google’s bespoke silicon strategy into 2024.
The leaked blue variant reiterates Google’s signature playful color palette approach for mass appeal standing out amidst a sea of muted options. With the radical makeover, Pixel 9 could hit the sweet spot blending distinctive style, smooth Google software experience and pro-grade optics for Android purists.
