With June here, the launch of the Google Pixel 10 is approaching fast, and expectations are high for significant upgrades. One of the key improvements anticipated is the shift from Samsung’s to TSMC’s architecture, powering the device with the Tensor G5 chip. This move is expected to offer better performance and efficiency. Additionally, the standard Pixel 10 model could feature an enhanced camera setup, providing users with improved photography capabilities.

Google Pixel 10 May Introduce ‘PixelSnap’ Magnetic Accessories with Qi2 Charging

One of the more intriguing rumoured additions is support for magnetic charging and accessories, similar to Apple’s MagSafe. According to marketing material accessed by Android Authority, Google may introduce a line of magnetic accessories branded PixelSnap. So far, three accessories have been mentioned: a PixelSnap charger, a charger with a stand, and a PixelSnap ring stand. These accessories are expected to work with the Qi2 wireless charging standard, potentially enabling up to 60W wireless charging — a significant leap forward.

This move would position Google alongside Android competitors like OnePlus and Oppo, who have already begun embracing magnetic accessory ecosystems. It would also allow Google Pixel users to enjoy a seamless experience with accessories like wallets, power banks, and car mounts — just as iPhone users have with MagSafe.

Pixel 10’s Magnetic Upgrade Could Boost Ecosystem and Challenge Apple

If this feature makes it to the Pixel 10, it could mark a new era for Pixel devices, bringing them closer to the accessory-rich Apple ecosystem. For users with older Pixel phones, magnetic functionality is still achievable using MagFit cases from brands like Spigen. These cases enable compatibility with existing MagSafe accessories, offering a taste of what the Pixel 10 might fully integrate. Overall, this development could enhance the Pixel’s appeal and increase competition in the premium smartphone market.

Summary:

The upcoming Google Pixel 10 is expected to feature the powerful Tensor G5 chip and improved cameras. A major highlight may be the introduction of ‘PixelSnap’ magnetic accessories with Qi2 wireless charging. This move aligns Pixel with Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem, enhancing its accessory support and competitiveness in the premium smartphone market.
