Tech giants Google and Apple have publicly addressed user concerns following the announcement of a rare collaboration under which Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence models will be used to enhance Apple’s AI features — including the upcoming next-generation Siri and Apple Intelligence functions on iPhones, iPads and Macs. This development marks a significant shift in how Apple approaches AI capability building.

Google Gemini Will Power All iPhones: Apple, Google Issue 'Assurance' Statements!

What The Partnership Entails

Under the multi-year agreement, Apple will integrate Google’s Gemini AI models and cloud technology into its own AI framework. The collaboration aims to power future versions of Apple Intelligence and Siri, offering more advanced, personalised AI experiences for users. Google’s deep learning and generative AI technology is expected to bolster Apple’s slow-moving AI advancements and accelerate next-generation features this year.

Addressing Privacy Concerns

In light of the collaboration, many iPhone users raised concerns about privacy — particularly whether Google would gain access to personal data on Apple devices. In response, Google publicly assured users that Apple Intelligence will continue to run within Apple’s own systems, maintaining existing privacy protections. The companies stated the AI processing will occur on Apple devices and within Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, not on third-party servers, and that Google will not receive user data for its own use or advertising purposes.

Why Privacy Assurances Matter

Apple has long marketed its ecosystem on the basis of strong data privacy and user control. Users typically trust that their personal information — such as messages, health data and device context — remains safeguarded on Apple devices. The assurance from Google and Apple is intended to reinforce that trust, even as AI features powered by Gemini models are introduced.

What Users Can Expect Next

The integration of Gemini into Apple’s AI stack does not replace Apple Intelligence or Siri with Google software outright. Instead, it serves as part of Apple’s internal AI foundation while preserving the familiar interface and privacy-focused handling of user data. Apple will continue to develop its own AI models and maintain the core AI experience in line with its ecosystem philosophy.

New AI features backed by Gemini are expected to begin rolling out later in 2026, starting with improvements to Siri, more personalised responses and expanded on-device intelligence support.
