The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is building a 380-kilometer greenfield expressway under the Green Highway Policy.
Named the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway, the project aims to improve road infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh by connecting Noida, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur.

NHAI Plans To Construct 380-Km Greenfield Expressway Under Green Highway Policy
Once completed, the expressway will reduce travel time between Ghaziabad and Kanpur to approximately 5 hours, down from the current 8 hours.
The expressway will span nine districts in Uttar Pradesh: Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur.
The initial design includes four lanes, with provisions for expanding to six lanes to accommodate future traffic growth.
As a greenfield project, it emphasizes eco-friendly construction and operations.
The expressway is scheduled for completion by 2026.
NHAI reportedly plans to extend the expressway in the future to connect with Jewar Airport in Noida, enhancing regional accessibility.
The southern part of the expressway will link with the 62.7-kilometer Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway.
The northern end will connect to National Highway 9.
The expressway is expected to cut travel time by nearly three hours between Ghaziabad and Kanpur.
The project aims to boost regional trade and ease congestion on existing highways.
It will act as a catalyst for socioeconomic growth by offering a direct, modern transport link between key cities.
Local businesses, logistics operators, and daily commuters are expected to benefit significantly from the improved connectivity.
Pune-Bengaluru In 7 Hours
We previously reported that the upcoming Pune-Bengaluru Expressway, a 700-kilometer greenfield, access-controlled highway, is poised to revolutionize connectivity between Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Once operational, it will slash travel time between Pune and Bengaluru from 15 hours to just 7, dramatically improving ease of movement for both residents and businesses.
Starting from Bommanal in Athani Taluk, Karnataka, the expressway will traverse key districts like Belagavi, Bagalkot, and Jamakhandi, before entering Maharashtra at Kanjle on the proposed Pune Ring Road. In Maharashtra, it will cut through major districts including Pune, Satara, and Sangli.
