UP Government and Foxconn in Talks
The Uttar Pradesh government is currently in discussions with Foxconn, Apple’s top manufacturing partner, to set up a new mobile phone manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. Two rounds of meetings between state officials and Foxconn representatives have already taken place in Delhi and Lucknow, signaling serious intent to move forward with the project.

A 300-Acre Manufacturing Hub in Noida
The proposed facility is expected to come up on approximately 300 acres of land and will significantly boost mobile phone production in India. It will be separate from Foxconn’s existing 50-acre joint venture with HCL for a semiconductor assembly and test plant. The upcoming facility will also include residential spaces for its workers, aiming to create 40000 new jobs.
Strengthening India’s Electronics Manufacturing Base
Greater Noida already accounts for nearly 50 percent of all mobile phone exports from India. With Foxconn’s proposed expansion, the region is poised to become an even stronger hub for electronics manufacturing. UP government sources believe Noida is the ideal location to support Apple’s global supply chain and deepen India’s manufacturing capabilities.
Supporting India’s Export and Jobs Mission
Foxconn’s expansion aligns well with the Indian government’s goals of increasing exports and generating employment. The project is likely to enhance local skill development while also creating an integrated ecosystem for mobile manufacturing in the region. The UP government is actively supporting such initiatives to bolster the state’s economic growth.
Ongoing Projects and Global Supply Chain
Foxconn already manufactures the iPhone 15 at its Tamil Nadu plant in Sriperumbudur. After Trump’s tariff announcements, Apple had to ship over 600 tons of iPhones from India to the US. The company also worked with Indian airport authorities to reduce customs clearance time dramatically, showing the growing efficiency of Indian infrastructure in global logistics.
A Step Toward Electronics Dominance
The new facility is another step in India’s journey to become a global electronics powerhouse. As demand grows and global brands seek alternative supply chains, initiatives like this cement India’s position as a preferred manufacturing destination.
