The announcement of a new ₹40,000 crore Pune-Bengaluru Expressway aims to improve connectivity between Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai.

The current 18-hour journey between Bengaluru and Mumbai will only take six hours thanks to the new highway.

Superfast Highway Near Pune To Come With Two Emergency Airstrips, 55 Flyovers, and 22 Interchanges

The project is a component of the Green Express Highway initiative, which was previously announced by Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.

Rapid progress is being made on the Pune-Bengaluru Expressway, which will connect to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway via the Pune Ring Road segment.

The 700-kilometer expressway is being constructed as part of the Bharatmala Pariyojna.

Bengaluru and Pune, two important IT hubs, will be directly connected.

The highway will be an access-controlled, greenfield route that is only intended for fast-moving automobiles.

There will be 22 interchanges, 55 flyovers, and two emergency airstrips on the expressway.

Up to 120 km/h will be the maximum speed permitted for vehicles.

Expressway To Reduce Distance Between Bengaluru and Pune by About 95 Kilometers

The expressway is expected to reduce the distance between Bengaluru and Pune by about 95 kilometers.

At the moment, it takes roughly 15–16 hours to travel from Pune to Bengaluru and 18–19 hours to travel from Mumbai to Bengaluru.

After it is finished, the new expressway will reduce the travel time from Mumbai to Bengaluru to about six hours and from Pune to Bengaluru to four to five hours.

Twelve districts in Karnataka and Maharashtra will be traversed by the route.

It will travel through the districts of Pune, Satara, and Sangli in Maharashtra, beginning at Kanjale on the Pune Ring Road.

Before arriving in Bengaluru city, it will pass through Belagavi, Bagalkot, Gadag, Koppal, Vijayanagar, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, and Bengaluru Rural in Karnataka.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will oversee the construction of the eight-lane motorway.

It is anticipated that the new expressway will significantly improve travel and trade between Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai.

It will speed up the flow of people and products, promoting regional development and economic expansion.

The commercial and IT sectors in Maharashtra and Karnataka are expected to benefit greatly from the expressway.
