Recently, we interacted with Mr. Sunando Palit, Head – Strategy & Customer Experience, Ador Welding Ltd – an industrial manufacturing company, producing a variety of welding products, industry applications, and technology services, including welding consumables and welding and cutting equipment.

1. Ador Welding has been a pioneer in the welding industry for decades. How has the company evolved its strategies and technologies to meet the changing demands and advancements in the welding sector?

With over seven decades of experience and a strong focus on innovation, Ador Welding Limited stands as India’s leading manufacturer of welding equipment, consumables, and automation systems. Our Technical Development Centre, housing 38 highly skilled individuals and backed by a 5% profit allocation for innovation, keeps us at the forefront of technology.  

Adapting to industry innovations and changing expectations, our commitment to quality and innovation has sustained a strong global presence in 40+ countries.  

We have embraced environmentally safe and sustainable welding solutions and incorporated automation technologies to remain at the forefront of the industry. 

2. Innovation is a cornerstone of success in any industry. Can you discuss some recent innovative products or technologies that Ador Welding has introduced to address the unique challenges of welding in various sectors?

Our approach to addressing the dynamic challenges in welding across diverse sectors revolves around innovation. To achieve this our Technological Development Centre plays a major role with its team of Engineers in multiple disciplines and state-of-the-art Design, Validation and Testing facilities as per International Standards, focusing on continuous improvements to existing products and the development of new innovations. 

One notable recent advancement is the Rhino E Electric Welder. Rhino E represents a remarkable leap forward in welding technology, designed with a strong emphasis on reducing carbon emissions and noise levels. Notably, this marks the introduction of the first battery-powered electric welder in India.  

In addition to these innovations, the integration of digital welding technologies is crucial for minimizing downtime and enhancing efficiency. These technologies offer real-time insights, control, monitoring, and predictive maintenance. Through R&D initiatives, we remain at the forefront of technical progress. Hence, we are dedicated to innovation and the use of these cutting-edge technologies establishes us as a progressive leader in the field, able to satisfy the constantly changing needs of our clients. 

3. How is welding technology changing in response to Industry 4.0 to connect with digitalization and data-driven processes?

Industry 4.0 is driving the use of digitalization and data-driven workflows in welding technology. Technologies like the Digital Twin and IoT sensors make it possible for welding machines to be connected to networks and share information. This connectivity helps the welding sector make decisions in real time and with more efficiency and production. Modern welding machines are smart assistants which automatically adjust welding conditions to perform tasks that were previously too difficult for novice welders. Advances in AI and precision control-driven welding technologies are opening possibilities in industries that require superior weld quality for the newest and most complex metals. Similar advancements in quality and safety are anticipated in the sector as it develops further.  

4. Could you share some insights into how Ador Welding is embracing sustainable and environmentally friendly practices within the welding industry?

The Rhino E Electric welder stands as a testament to our belief in sustainability initiatives, designed with a strong emphasis on reducing carbon emissions and noise levels.

In our dedication to protect the environment, all electronic components and parts utilized in the machines adhere to ROHS compliance standards. This ensures that hazardous materials such as Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, and other harmful elements, detrimental to health and challenging to dispose of, are entirely excluded. 

As a part of our broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives, we have successfully reduced our plastic consumption by 9.6 metric tons, cut down our water consumption by 50% and planted over 2000 trees.  

5. Ador Welding has a global footprint. How does the company ensure that it meets the diverse needs of customers across different regions and industries while maintaining its commitment to quality and innovation?

Ador Welding places high importance on meeting diverse client needs across various sectors. Our in-house R&D team, coupled with NABL accredited testing labs, plays a crucial role in developing and testing products tailored to the specific needs of our customers.  

In addition to this, our products undergo certification according to international standards, varying based on the country.
