1. Could you give a brief summary of Walplast’s development from its founding to its current position as India’s top producer of building materials? 

Founded in 1980 by Mr. Ashok Mehta, current Chairman, Walplast began as a trading business under his entrepreneurial leadership. Recognizing the potential for growth and innovation, the company transitioned into manufacturing two decades ago. Committed to redefining India’s construction materials industry, the company prioritizes innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction as key levers to growth. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and expertise, Walplast has evolved into a leading manufacturer, operating more than 25 plants. As the third-largest producer of wall putty in India, our global reach extends to 23 countries, reflecting our significant role in shaping the Indian construction landscape. 

2. There have been major developments in the construction materials business recently. In order to remain competitive, how has Walplast embraced innovation and adjusted to shifting market dynamics?

From improved walling solutions to advanced adhesives, we have continuously embraced innovation to stay ahead. Our investment in research and development, combined with collaboration with industry experts, has empowered us to introduce solutions that cater to the evolving demands of the industry. 

3. In today’s building, sustainability is an essential factor. What actions has Walplast made to reduce its environmental impact and how does it incorporate eco-friendly practices into its production processes and products? 

Sustainability is a priority for Walplast, evident in our commitment to minimizing environmental impact. We achieve this through responsible manufacturing, efficient resource utilization, and the development of eco-friendly products. Our production facilities incorporate green practices, emphasizing waste and energy reduction. 

Our products reflect our dedication to sustainability. For example: 

HomeSure MasterTouch Paints: Low in VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and free of heavy metals. 

HomeSure Waterproof Putty: Utilizes 5% recycled raw materials from renewable natural dolomite stones. It is also 10% recyclable at both post-consumer and post-industrial stages. 

HomeSure Self-Curing Plaster: Conserves water and incorporates 5% recyclable waste and byproducts like fly ash. 

Our comprehensive Sustainability program prioritizes responsible development. Walplast harnesses renewable energy sources, including solar power, to minimize our environmental footprint and meet energy needs. Our commitment extends to sustainable business practices, incorporating thin layer technology, manufacturing sand, fly ash usage, eco sand, slag cement, and utilizing stone byproducts. These measures collectively contribute to our mission of environmentally responsible production. 

4. Could you provide more details on the assortment of building supplies that Walplast manufactures? In what ways do these goods improve the longevity, effectiveness and quality of construction projects? 

Our product portfolio spans a wide range, including plasters, putties, adhesives, textures, and coatings. These materials are designed not only to enhance the aesthetics of buildings but also to ensure their longevity and structural integrity. Our solutions contribute to efficient construction processes, reducing time and costs. Moreover, their durability and resistance to wear and tear make them ideal for a variety of building projects, ultimately raising the quality standards across the industry. 

5. Walplast is a major player in the Indian market. Could you talk about the company’s initiatives to reach a wider audience and meet the various needs of clients in various areas?
